The University of Lampung (UNILA) is committed to biodiversity, taking action to protect orchids species on campus sites. More than five hundreds orchid species with total of 60 plants of Retusa, 100 plants of Amabilis var Sumatera, 200 plants of Aerides Odorata, 3 plants of Vanda perpleksa, 3 plants of Vanda Tricolour var Suavis, 3 plants of Vanda Limbata, 10 plants of Vanda Foetida, 5 plants of Vanda Helvola, 3 plants of Phalaenopsis Pulcherrima Doritis, 300 plants of Golden Shower, 2 plantsb of Coelogyn Rocushennii, 4 plants of Dendrobium Species, 40 plants of Vanda Ascominiatum, 4 plants Phalaenopsis Hybrid, 15 plants of Dendrobium crumenatum, and 8 bunches of Catleya Mantini has been planted at the University of Lampung.

UNILA has also launched a new hybrid orchid which has been officially registered at The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) UK under the name “Dendrobium Unila Campus Garden” /UCG. Dendrobium UCG is a hybrid from Dendrobium Dyah Catarina orchid and Dendrobium Violaceoflavens. Dendrobium UCG will then be developed by UNILA researchers.
